City of Southlake Minimum Requirements
These requirements MUST be met to apply with the City of Southlake.
- Applicant must be at least 19 years old at time of hire.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid Texas class B drivers' license.

Must posses Paramedic certification from the Texas Department of Health or National Registry Paramedic Certification by application close date.
- Possession of Texas Commission Basic Fire Protection certification is preferred.
- Must successfully pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) conducted by Tarrant County College (TCC). Certificates are valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
- Must successfully pass a Written Exam conducted by the City of Southlake.
- Must pass an extensive background check.

Firefighter / Paramedic Pay: $50,778.00 per year + benefits.

Submit the following items by fax, mail or dropping off in person on or before the posted close date:
1) City of Southlake application, 2) PAT / Certification Information Form and 3) PAT Certificate (if applicable).
Physical Ability Test
The Physical Ability Test (PAT) is conducted by Tarrant County College and is valid for six months from the date of issue. A future PAT may be scheduled depending upon the interest we receive from applicants needing this test.
The PAT consists of seven (7) timed events including a rescue maze, aerial ladder climb, charged hose drag, equipment carry, ventilation simulator, body carry and ladder raise. All applicants are required to wear structural firefighting PPE and SCBA throughout the PAT. Structural firefighting PPE will consist of a bunker coat, with the thermal and vapor liner, helmet, gloves and must have met NFPA standards at some point. The SCBA will consist of the backpack with frame, shoulder and waist straps and air cylinder. You are welcome to bring your own PPE gear as long as it has met NFPA standards. TCC will provide this equipment if needed.
A written test will be conducted by the City of Southlake and the future test date will be communicated via email.
