RECREATION SPECIALIST-SUMMER CAMP MANIA DIRECTOR (1 POSITION)

Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to assist with the coordinating, planning, implementing, promoting and supervising of all aspects of Camp Mania Day Camp. This is accomplished by planning and implementing recreational activities and programs for children between the ages of 5-11. Other duties include assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Camp Mania program, interacting with program participants, developing schedules, ordering supplies and equipment, assisting in promoting events and ensuring the readiness of facilities. Other duties include administration support and on-site supervision of programs.
Education: High school diploma or equivalency is required. College coursework in a recreational program is preferred, but not required.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in leading youth ages 5-11 in various activities in a recreational setting
- Previous supervisory experience of staff
- Administrative duties (timesheets, ordering supplies, maintain records, incident reports etc.)
- Planning of and coordination of Summer Camp activities and schedules
- Working knowledge of indoor recreational games, crafts, activities etc.
- Ability to communicate well with participants, parents and other staff
- Ability to actively participate in games
- Two years of relevant experience is required
Schedule: 40 hours per week that will vary within a 12-hour window, Monday - Friday.
This is a temporary position that will begin on or around May 1, 2011 and end on or around August 5, 2011.
Certificates & Other Requirements:
- Possession of a valid Texas Drivers License
- Possession of CRP certification (indicate or include with your completed application)
- Possession of First Aid Certification (indicate or include with your completed application)
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
Working Conditions: Applicant must be willing to work in both indoor and outdoor elements
Salary: $13.09 per hour
